| John Micheal Groves, RSMA, began painting marine subjects 1970, full time since 1977. He was made a Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1977. His major commissions include five large historical oil paintings for Shell in the 1980's. He works mainly to commissions, in oil, pastel, pen and ink. The online Studio Gallery contains over 40 examples of his work. A free screensaver which includes 53 of his paintings can be downloaded from the site. Also available from the website: A series of Limited Edition prints, limited to 50 copies only, commemorating the bi-centennial anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Latest news: John's depiction of the engagement between 'Lydia and Natividad' was the first ever winner of the Derek Gardner Deep Seas Award at the Royal Society of Marine Artists 2008 exhibition.
